About Katie
Katie's NZ base is in Ohoka, Canterbury where she breeds, starts and schools young horses. While in New Zealand Katie takes horses for starting, schooling and re-educating. She also enjoys teaching riders of all ages and abilities.
As a child Katie had some great and some challenging ponies but by the age of 15 had won a national show hunter title, represented New Zealand in the FEI Children’s international Show jumping competition, competed in the Pony of the Year title class and schooled two ponies from green broke to successfully competing at grand prix level. From the age of 13 Katie transitioned onto hacks, successfully evented up to 1* level, dressage to level 3 and Show jumping to 1* Grand Prix. Katie also holds her A and H certificates.
In 2013 Katie made the decision to move to England for a year. She worked for James Fisher for 4 months schooling and jumping his young horses and then was offered and amazing opportunity to ride for John and Laura Renwick. Laura is currently the leading lady rider in England and John is a top class trainer and previously an international Show jumper. In her 6months there she rode and competed their young horses and was lucky to get a huge amount of training from John, Katie has returned to New Zealand summer 2014/15 to further develop and compete her young horses and plans to head to england again over the winter to further her knowledge.
The experience Katie has gained overseas has broadened her knowledge base in the development and production of young competition horses and has been invaluable in aiding Katie to develop her own team and starting and developing clients horses.
On this page you can find Katie's major career highlights, training experience and references from current and previous clients.
